Here is a little more information on using your stove-top or oven recipes in your crock-pot.
Crock-pot cooking is ONE STEP cooking. Many steps in your stove-top or oven recipe may be deleted. Simply add ingredients to the crock-pot at one time and cook usually 5-6 hours on high, or 8-10 hours on low.
Because little moisture evaporates during slow cooking, reduce amount of liquid in your recipe by one-half. For soup recipes, add all ingredients except water or brother to pot; add only enough liquid to cover the ingredients.
Reduce amount of seasoning in proportion with reduced amount of liquid. Use whole or leaf herbs and spices rather than crushed or ground forms.
Less tender, less expensive cuts of meat are better suited to slow cooking than expensive cuts of meat. Fatty meats such as pork should be trimmed or browned to remove excess fat before slow cooking.
Because milk, sour or sweet cream break down during long hours of cooking, add these ingredients just before you serve.
To keep vegetables extra moist when roasting on low try wrapping them in foil.
